What CBT is for
Compulsory Basic Training is the starting point for many new riders. It gives you the basic road awareness, control, and confidence you need before you go further.
What to bring
- Your provisional licence
- A helmet and suitable riding gear if you own them
- A willingness to ask questions and take things step by step
What happens on the day
- You’ll cover the basics of bike controls and road safety.
- You’ll practice low-speed handling and core rider skills.
- You’ll get guidance on the next stage once the basics are in place.
Helpful next step
CBT opens the door to proper road riding.
Once you have the basics, it becomes much easier to work out whether A1, A2, or full A is the right route for you.
